GLOSS: Solo Exhibition by Devon Clark
Inspired by the Art Deco period, designs are
realized using precious stones and metals.
Enamel is layered in color & texture to create
a tangle of patterns over silhouetted metal
surfaces. The results are a luscious and glossy
series of personal decoration and ornament.
This body of work marks the beginning of
a new era for the artist. Birthed from circumstance,
the inspiration for this collection arose from
having to work within external parameters which
imposed limitations on the creative process.
Motherhood and the rising costs for materials
in an unstable economy have been major factors
in the creation of this collection. However, within
her limitations, Clark has found creative expansion
and expression.
Devon Clark currently works out of her studio
in Calgary and is a co-founder of INFLUX
Jewellery Gallery. She graduated with a Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree from the Alberta College of Art
and Design in 2002.
