Jack and the Beanstalk:
Sterling Silver
|
Artist Statement
For years I created burnished porcelaine, pit-fired goddesses. Each piece was a one of a kind, carved with prehistoric symbols. Eventually I came to understand these to be, “the Language of the Goddess”. Now I forge precious metals, sterling silver and gold, into representations of this ancient language so that women may wear them directly on their bodies.
Spiral- symbol of rebirth, regeneration
Double Spiral- symbol of fertility, healing
Rams horns- sacred to the Bird Goddess, the rams are a representation of fallopian tubes
Curly-Q- the spiral and the symbol for water or embryonic fluid combined. In my mind this reads as abundant creativity and rebirth
Creativity, in any form is, in my opinion, a state of ultimate fertility and birth. Fertility is not solely the forum/place of childbearing. Our hopes, dreams and aspirations are empowered by faith in our ability to tap into the flow of our personal creativity.
