Michelle Prosek
Dichroic Glass pendants

Artist’s Statement
I love working with glass because it presents so many possibilities for design and functionality.  It inspires me to challenge myself in creating unique and elegant jewellery with vibrant colours, using the highest quality materials including sterling silver, crystal, and pearls.  Every piece of my jewellery is designed, completed and hand signed to create stunning wearable works of art.

Biography
A graduate of the University of Guelph with an honors degree in biological science, Michelle has always held a fascination for glass.  Now, with a full time business designing elegant fused glass jewellery, she can explore the possibilities for creation that glass has to offer.  She welcomes custom commissions and requests, and is available by appointment at her studio in Ancaster.
When Michelle designs a unique piece of jewellery, she cuts sheets of dichroic glass to make the piece, and then fuses the many layers in a 1500 F kiln.  The piece is then cooled for approximately 12 hours before it is taken to a grinder to tidy up edges and any flaws from the first firing, after which it is fired again.  After two days of work, the piece can be made into a stunning beaded necklace, earrings, pin or bracelet.
