Artist’s Statement
My dreams are often the starting point to my designs. From the seed of an idea I decide what materials and techniques I will use. An unusual material or design requires me to invent or conquer new techniques and challenges. Currently I enjoy forging silver and gold in a small scale. It allows me to use the plasticity of the metal to create its form. The resulting work is both clean and organic. In this work I focus on pleasing proportions that hint at the modern and the ancient. I am also continuing with my Vintage Illustration earrings. These one of a kind earrings are made with great care. The illustrations range widely in subject. It is as though each pair awaits their rightful owner.

Biography
Lauren’s interest in art and adornment has led her to travel and study extensively. In addition to completing courses in architecture at Emily Carr and silversmithing at Central St. Marin’s in London, England, Lauren has a degree in Art History from the University of British Columbia. Her strong foundation in the history of art and her training in design culminated in the study of Jewellery Art & Design in Vancouver. Since graduating, Lauren has continued creating elegant jewellery from a variety of media. Lauren strives to make jewellery that isn’t just simple adornment, but that women love to wear.
