Artist’s Statement
My work evolves from an ongoing study of natural form, combined with the exploration and application of goldsmithing techniques to the highest standard I can achieve.
Ideas are developed through a progression of designs to produce a collection based on a particular theme, using a variety of materials and different techniques to explore a specific concept.
I enjoy choosing and working with a wide variety of colored gemstones as an integral part of my designs and am influenced by designs and techniques of past eras. This, coupled with a fascination for the role of jewellery and body adornment of different cultures, a phenomena/behaviour which is as old as history itself, fuels my urge to design and craft jewellery.
My basic aim is to make beautiful, original jewellery that can be enjoyed and worn comfortably; I consider the process incomplete until the piece is owned and enjoyed.
