Artist’s Statement
Originally from Paris, France, I moved to New Mexico at the age of 19 where I fell in love with Native American art, and especially with the Hopi, Zuni and Navajo jewelry. I started watching and learning from native silversmiths and goldsmiths. After 6 years, I went to Mali, West Africa, where I worked with Touareg and Bambara jewellers for 2 years. Then, I moved to Canada, where I decided to perfect my skills by going to a jewelry making school for a period of 18 months which gave me a more classical and technical view of the trade. Since that time, I have been designing and creating in my workshop at home as well as teaching in two schools in Montreal. I have been showing my work in various galleries in Canada and the United States as well as participating in numerous art shows and competitions, in which I have received national and international appraisal.
