Artist’s Statement
I have a great attraction to clean, geometric forms and course, rich textures.  Learning to combine these two polar opposites in a way that provides a rich and satisfying uniformity is a process that often takes much time and consideration.  I work hard to create objects which are gratifying to wear, are produced to a very high level of quality and innovation, and reflect a modern esthetic while achieving a level of elegance that allows these works of art to retain their appeal beyond the current trends.

If you happen to acquire one of my works, I hope you receive as much enjoyment from wearing these small sculptures as I have had in creating them.

I live on the edge of the North Atlantic.  It is impossible to live here, especially as a transplant from the prairies, and not feel intimidated by the raw power of this place.  It is, however, also an environment of extreme fragility - of small elements that are constantly moving, constantly disappearing and constantly being remade in new forms.  It is these small elements – changing sand patterns on the beach, tidal pools, filling and emptying, groupings of pebbles on sandbars – that form the basis of my current work.

I have learned to love this place, in spite of the difficulties of living here.  It is not an ‘easy’ environment, and it constantly reminds me of how fragile my own place is within it.  It is a land of strong winds, high waves and hard rock.  Simply put, I use the small scale elements I find within the larger landscape as a basis for my work because it is the only way I have found to interpret the larger forces I see, hear and feel around me.
